Back to back pain is spinal cord injury rehab. Spinal cord injuries happen when one or more spinal segments are damaged, usually by an accident or sports injury. Many spinal injuries can lead to paralysis and other neurological deficits. Spinal cord rehabilitation focuses on restoring the individual’s function, independence, health, and quality of life through a multidisciplinary approach involving physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical care, and education/training for the patient and their family members.
What should I know about this?
Spinal cord rehab is a process that can take many years. The goal of rehabilitation is to help the individual regain as much function as possible. This may include improving movement, strength, and coordination; restoring or improving bladder and bowel control; helping with everyday activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking; and training for work or school.
A team of specialists will design a personalized program based on the individual’s needs. The program typically includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology (SLP), recreational therapy, nursing care, nutrition counseling, and education/training for the patient and their family members.
