Getting into and out of bed each day may not seem like a lot of exercise, but it can be surprisingly beneficial if you make the switch to a low floor bed. Just the extra amount of effort involved to get out of a bed that’s closer to the floor means you get more exercise, and tend to wake up feeling refreshed and alert, instead of groggy. And because heat rises, sleeping closer to the floor can help to keep you cooler at night during those hot summers. It can mean and end to nights during which you struggle to keep cool and get a good night’s sleep. Another obvious benefit is that if someone is sleeping on the floor, perhaps a toddler or elderly person, they aren’t going to be injured if they fall out of bed during the night.
