When diagnosed with a serious illness such as cancer, one can easily become overwhelmed. It can be easy to essentially put life on hold while undergoing treatments. However, living well with cancer cannot only aid in making one feel better mentally and physically, but it can work with treatments. There are several ways one can live well with this illness. First and foremost, it is important to eat a well-balanced diet, but the individual can also treat himself from time-to-time. Maintaining relationships and friendships is also important. Not only do those in one’s life serve as a support system, but they can decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness during this time. Another important thing is to continue doing the things that matter. Whether this is art, working out or whatever hobby, maintaining something that brings enjoyment should be considered an important part of overall well-being.
