Mindfullness Meditation: What You Need to Know and How to Get Started

Many of us would readily agree that the human mind is powerful. Consequently, the human mind must be protected, nurtured, and fed with activities that ensure it stays healthy and can serve us and others positively. Unsurprisingly, there are many practices that can positively harness the power of the mind. Meditation, particularly mindfullness meditation, is one very effective practice in that regard. We look a little closer at this, below.

This kind of mindful meditation, also referred to as mindfulness, is the practice of slowing down your thoughts in an effort to clear and calm the mind, let go of negativity, and even calm down the body. Importantly, the practice includes deep breathing, self-awareness, and accepting the feelings, thoughts, and sensations in the here and now without judging them as positive or negative. The result of this practice includes reduced stress, improved sleep, increased immunity, and lowered heart rates.
