The Eiffel Tower is a must-see sight on any first-time trip to Paris. The 324-meter tall steel tower was built for the 1889 World’s Fair and was so popular that it has remained on its side next to the River Seine ever since. When not closed due to a temporary lockdown, it’s possible to save time by buying an entry ticket in advance, which gives you access to the three floors, including several restaurants and gift shops, historical exhibits, and a museum. Of course, most visitors go for the spectacular views, which take in most of the city’s major sights. It’s also worth visiting the tower at different times of day and escaping the crowds in the gardens at the foot of the tower. You’ve seen it in numerous movies and paintings, but it’s an experience seeing the Eiffel Tower in person.
