Frisbee golf, also known as disc golf, is a game that is very similar to golf except that instead of hitting a ball at a target with a club, a Frisbee (or other type of throwing disc) is used instead. Sometimes the Frisbee must be thrown into a basket instead of a target but scoring is similar to golf: the aim is to reach the goal with the fewest number of throws. The objective of the game is to finish a course of targets using the fewest throws.
The game was invented in the US in the early 1900s and is now played across the country. As of 2010 there were over 3000 established courses available to play, nearly all of them for free, that feature 9, 18 or 27 targets. It is a popular activity because it can be played by people of any age – the only requirement being that they can throw a Frisbee.
