Marriage enrichment is a type of couples therapy in which couples that value their marriage seek to take active steps to grow their marital relationship and improve it. This type of therapy is not undertaken because of problems in a relationship but rather as a form of prevention before they occur.

This approach was developed by David and Vera Mace with the goal of promoting mutual commitment to growth a marital relationship, to develop an open means of communication that is acceptable to both partners and to learn to use conflict in creative ways that can actually help the marital relationship rather than hinder its growth. One of the main aims of this process is to develop and maintain feelings of intimacy in a relationship through the honest sharing of feelings and through the use of various positive interaction skills.
