What Is VFX Outsourcing?

VFX stands for ‘visual effects‘ and refers to any imagery created or manipulated that is not a live-action shot in a film or video. It enables creators to create any scene they can imagine without having to physically build it and then film it. While this opens a wide range of possibilities for the creator, the actual process of creating VFX requires specialized hardware and software and powerful computers on which to run them.

For this reason creators often use third-parties to provide their VFX needs (called ‘outsourcing’) and this is the answer to the question that many people ask: ‘What is VFX outsourcing?’. It makes sense to use specialists in the field to create the effects required because they have the skills, experience and tools to do the job at a much lower cost than someone starting from scratch.
