Private equity investment is a growing and attractive field in finance and firms in this field usually do not have much difficulty finding candidates to fill roles. Private equity recruitment refers to the process that firms use to find, interview and hire candidates. There tend, however, to be relatively few roles available at any given time, and private equity firms tend to apply highly specific criteria to the selection process. The pools from which people for a private equity role tend to be recruited are:

• Undergraduates (Analysts) – firms hire promising undergraduates for junior positions.
• Investment Banking Analysts – investment banking analysts that already have experience in large investment transactions are often hired from elite and boutique banks.
• From Another Firm – those that already work in the field tend to be headhunted for new roles since they already have experience and a proven track record.
