About Slim Solar Panels

Slim (or flexible) solar panes are made of silicon wafers that are only a few micrometers wide (compared with standard solar panels that are about 200 micrometers wide). These slim solar panels are suitable for a range of applications which would not be possible by using standard panels.

They can be installed on structures that otherwise would not bear the weight of standard solar panels and can also be shaped to fit the surface on which they are installed. They are also portable, since they are lightweight, and can be used for camping and on RVs where a standard solar panel would be impractical. Flexible, or thin, solar panels are, however, slightly less efficient than standard panels which have an efficiency rating of between 16 and 20 per cent while slim panels only achieve between 7 and 15 per cent.
