A marquee or marquise is a roof like structure often bearing a sign. It can also be an open-sided tent often erected at a funeral sight. Marquees for funerals can be placed at the funeral home as a temporary or permanent shelter. This structure can benefit guests caught outside in poor weather as it can protect them from rain or snow. It can also be used to house seated guests should there be an overflow in the building or the conduct simple ceremonies for seated family members.

The marquee setup at the cemetery is a temporary structure that doesn’t disturb the landscaping as it and all evidence of its presence can be removed as well after the funeral ceremony. Marquees for funerals supply seating and shelter from rain or too much sun making it comfortable for the grieving family and friends.
